PORTERHOUSE BOB
and Down to the Bone
The happiest music on the planet!
A blend of Bourbon Street brass, rolling piano blues and a classic New Orleans beat; this high octane barrelhouse band pumps out psycho boogie, funk and zydeco-blues as if there is no tomorrow. Quite simply... the most unique and exciting live show west of the Mississippi! |
Live entertainment at its best!
"The 1st class rhythm and horn section, featuring Mitch Montrose on drums and rub board, Mike Barry on bass, Dan Heffernan on alto and tenor saxophone, George Pandis on trumpet and flugelhorn, Scotty 'Screech' Strathmann on trumpet, trombone and tuba, and Don Roberts on baritone sax, provides the perfect compliment to Porterhouse Bob's aggressive vocals, piano, accordion and organ chops. From tunes written by the likes of Professor Longhair, Buster Brown, Ray Charles and James Booker, to original numbers, like Tippin' on Fo Fo's, No Damn Fool, Who Called The Cops, Hot Rod Lips, Big House Boogie, Did You Catch That Jack?, and Big Fat Woman, this infectious swamp funk and boogie serves up fine with audiences both young and old alike."
Marvin Stokes (Southern BBQ Blues Review)
"I have come to learn, as I'm sure you have as well, that great music means great entertainment. Porterhouse Bob makes great music and there is no doubt about the entertainment."
Jon Hayes (Southland Blues- Los Angeles)
"Singing at the piano with a rollicking spirit, Porterhouse Bob tears up the joint. His 8-cylinder powerhouse band includes a swinging horn section that can't be beat".
Jim Santella (Southland Blues - Los Angeles)
"A demon on keyboards and accordion...pulsing horns are used to carry the rhythm like most bands use guitar...a funky New Orleans sound..."
TH (Living Blues Magazine - Mississippi
"Yeah you have done it again with a gumbo laden feast of Southern Blues mixed into a Voodoo stew with just the right amount of spice to add to the flavor. Yes we love it (Who Called The Cops) soooooooooooooo very much and l have allocated the cd to the biggest Blues show in this city "Jumping The Blues" with Tom Sianidis Wednesday 1 to 3pm. ... all l want is for every body to hear what we were able to hear , great music. Perfect for PBS FM."
Regards Peter. (PBS FM Australia)
